Students who are doing English literature in grade 10 and 11 have to study four genres of literature as Poetry, Prose, Drama and Fiction.
Literature gives pleasure. Not only that, by reading literary texts, students are able to improve their language too.
The selected texts are based on different themes. The aim of learning literature is not only gaining pleasure or improving language, but also the inculcation of humanistic values. Readers must be able to empathize with the diversity of the world, varied life styles of people and critically think over the social, cultural and political issues.
Further, a sensitive, well-informed and caring citizenry is also expected through teaching and learning literature.
